δ facing conflict δ

it would be so wonderful for me to sit here and spout off about how well i handle conflict and how healthfully i can resolve conflict -- but maybe wild monkeys will fly out of mt ass too!
when i came to recovery i handles conflict in only one manner -- do what it takes to win. if i did not win, the conflict was unresolved. i still am making amends over that little piece of wonderful behavior.
after a step or three i decided the best way to handle conflict, was to roll over and agree to anything. and guess what i am still working on amends from that piece of me too!
the reading suggests that we use all of the spiritual principles we have learned to face conflict. i have found for this hot-headed addict that sometimes the best policy is for me to walk away from the situation and give myself a little time for my recovery to catch up to my emotions, thoughts and mouth, then go back to the situation when i can be a touch more rational. sometimes that means the best i can do is count to one hundred, take a deep breath and say a quick prayer asking for a bit of whatever i need to get through this situation. i rarely make it past twenty before i am able to continue and i really do prefer to walk away for more than a few seconds to allow things to happen but i do what i need to do and go on.
resolving conflict is still a tricky little task for me, but today i am better at it and end up with fewer amends than ever, so something must be working!
