δ dealing with any conflict is difficult for this recovering addict. …

when my temper rises, it is often a good idea to back away from the situation until cooler minds prevail. i cannot avoid troubling situations, but i can use time and distance to find perspective. there was a time, and it was not all that long ago, when i found myself in conflict with others, i would have to win, no matter what the cost. that behavior is one i would like to say is an old one, one that has been lifted from me, however, that would be a lie. that win at all costs paradigm is not very active anymore. why, you may ask, well i would like to say that is one of the defects of character that has already been removed, BUT the truth is, that i hate to admit i am wrong and make amends, so my distaste of being wrong and having to own that, keeps me out of allowing my temper to take hold and run with my mouth. it would be nice to go through life without any conflict, but that is like thinking it would be nice to go through life without having to drink any water. conflict is part of the human condition, and my anger, or even rage is my reaction to that fact of life. so the suggestion that i walk away and let my spirit do its work before allowing my head to its , is a good one, and one that i find is applicable in my daily life. yes conflict still needs resolution, but the time and place will always present itself, all i have to do is be present and take advantage of that,
so anyhow, independence from acting out in rage is a good though foor this fourth of july and one i will carry with me.

5) Who uses well his light,
Reverting to its (source so) bright,
Will from his body ward all blight,
And hides the unchanging from men's sight.
