so long as i work the program, the payoff is certain: freedom from active addiction and a better way of life.
it is ironic that last night i finally admitted out loud that i cannot wait for this year in my recovery to reach its end on september 10th. am i grateful for this tenth year, most certainly, i have been given the gift of freedom from active addiction. i have been given a new manner in which to live. and i have been shown that the reward of staying clean is another day clean. but being the type of person that i am, i can always find something to whine about, and this morning this is not what i want to do. this morning i just want to be grateful for another day clean, and the time has come to focus on what i need to do today. drive across the state and be present for a service event.
so what does all of this have to do with the whole topic of WE DO RECOVER? well for one thing, replacing ingratitude with gratitude is something i can work on this morning. i do have the tools necessary to be more than i have ever been, and the changes across the last ten and a half months are a result of living the program. so off to pack and see what the drive brings!
