a minute or so, BUT, i finally arrived at my own sense of spirituality that works for me. i will not belabor that point, as i have done many times in the past. i will, however, say to anyone who finds themselves on that sort of journey, to let go of what others may think, look at the dogma for what it is, and use the mind that you were given to figure out what works for you.
i got the news today, that i have been approved for Social Security. i am confused about the size of my benefit, but more will certainly be revealed. i also received two e-mails over the past few days, from allegedly different organizations that may be my next gig. they are eerily similar in structure and content, so i am wondering what is up. the “interview” questions are different, so maybe i am reading far too much into the fact they arrived in the past two days. i will do the next right thing, which is to fill them both out and let go of the results.
at my home group today, i received the news that a peer who has been “around” recovery for at least a decade and a half, died from an overdose, two weeks after he died and was revived from another overdose. 😥 the last time i saw him, he said he was “all in ” for this recovery gig and it makes me wonder what happened. his was not the first relapse i have seen that led to death and sadly probably will not be the last. when i get news like this, i often wonder, what if anything, i might have done, to prevent it from happening. the fact of life in this matter, is that addicts use, that is what we are world-famous for. myself and my peers in recovery, are the exceptions. as one of the few, i have to do a quick inventory of my own state of being and assess if i am in danger of traveling down that dark road. today and just for today, i am smack dab in the middle of the recovery boat and will do my best to remain there. i do not wish to leave behind a legacy of others wondering where i went wrong. i have the ways and means to get another day clean and i think i will post this and do the next right thing.
