∞ honesty is a quality that is developed through practice. ∞

it is not always easy to be totally truthful, but when i begin with my Higher Power, i find it easier to extend my honesty to others.
okay, this is way late this afternoon, company coming and of course i want my yard to look sort of finished. you know the whole appearances thing that i am sometimes wrapped up in.
anyway, honesty is something that comes with practice is an interesting way for me to look at this principle. i have finally realized that each of the spiritual principles i try to live by, do not come naturally to me still. i do not think i was born dishonest, and i even it find it difficult to tell a bold face lie, so i evade the truth by creative editing. i gad to find someway to practice being dishonest, else i could not have used for as long as i did. my dishonesty protected me from the realization about how fucked up i was acting when i was using. my dishonesty protected me from getting too close to anyone, and my dishonesty kept the world from figuring out just how much and what i was using for quite a length of time.
so i no longer need those protections, and yet dishonesty is still a part of my life.
so if i choose to follow a suggestion or two, i can continue practicing being honest, first with my HIGHER POWER, then myself, and finally everyone else. i guess it is like learning to ride a bicycle again, i did not ever forget how to be honest, i just chose an easier softer way, so my honesty skills are more than a bit rusty.
life is like that, if i want the skill set, then i have to do the practice and right now i need to get back to work.

☯ The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao ☯

THE TAO TEH KING, OR THE TAO AND ITS CHARACTERISTICS
by Lao-Tse
Translated by James Legge

Book 1

3) Hence, those with whom he agrees as to the Tao have the happiness
of attaining to it; those with whom he agrees as to its manifestation
have the happiness of attaining to it; and those with whom he agrees
in their failure have also the happiness of attaining (to the Tao).
(But) when there is not faith sufficient (on his part), a want of
faith (in him) ensues (on the part of the others).
