so i once sponsored a man, who sought concrete signs from his concept of a HIGHER POWER, for anything and everything he prayed for. as a result, he was often paralyzed in his decision-making process or putting all sorts of meaning into his dreams. i use this example not a source of disrespect of derision, but as a contrast to my how i view the world, physically and spiritually. was his way right or wrong? that is not for me to say, what i do know is that it would not work for me.
so how do i communicate with the POWER that fuels my recovery? simple requests in plain modern day English, lacking: “thee, thy and thine;“ and without the stiltedness of the false humility i felt when i was taught to pray in organized religion.
what do i expect to hear? absolutely NOTHING! what i get when i let go of my expectations, is the answers to what is troubling me the most, given to me by the people and institutions i interact with, over the course of my daily activities. the worst part of this method of communication is that i am REQUIRED to be awake and present as i walk through my day, and sometimes that just sucks. i want to have heavenly music and ethereal light illuminating what i NEED to know, not a slight, nagging suspicion that what i am hearing is VERY important for me to hear. meditation prepares me for this watchful state of being awake, by opening the pathway to express my own true will for myself.
anyhow, i am running behind schedule and i need to get rolling on over to Boulder. it is a great day to be clean and i know i will hear what i NEED to hear today, and perhaps even a few things that i WANT to have the answer for, who knows?

Book 2

2) There is no calamity greater than lightly engaging in war. To do
that is near losing (the gentleness) which is so precious. Thus it
is that when opposing weapons are (actually) crossed, he who deplores
(the situation) conquers.
