↔ a wonderful learning enviornment for me ↔

and after all it is all about me! i can believe i have THE ANSWER, which is the case most of the time. that character defect has yet to be removed from my repertoire and when i am actively practicing it, i am not teachable or even reachable. the actual truth is that if i remain open-minded, which is a difficult task for me, i can learn from anyone’s experience, strength and hope. i have a tendency to discount the source if somehow they lack the criteria i believe necessary to have an answer. what i tend to conveniently forget is that THE POWER THAT KEEPS ME CLEAN AND PROVIDES FOR ALL MY NEEDS, speaks through the people with whom i share my life and my recovery. the answer to my current dilemma is just as likely to come from the addict with one day or even no days clean, than the addict with fifty years clean. by filtering someone else’s experience based on my criteria, i am missing what could be an elegant and simple answer to my immediate concern.
so here i am back in my seventh step, watching for the behaviors that separate me from the solution to my problem. i need to once again surrender all of my shortcomings to my HIGHER POWER, open my mind to the probability that i do not have all the answers and be present for what is occurring in my life. after all, for me, this is all about discovering the solution and learning how to live this new life one day at a time!

conduct (a government) according to the Great Tao, what I should be
most afraid of would be a boastful display.
