with the consequences of my actions, is still a work in process for me. make me grateful that i am one of those who keeps working steps, albeit much slower than way back when. this morning, after running the Bolder Boulder in sixty-four minutes, i wanted to beat myself up, as i did walk for three minutes and that little bit of walking, kept me from breaking an hour or getting close to my goal. as i walked back to my car, i had a bit of an Ah-Ha moment, a year ago, i lacked the ability to even run one kilometer, much less ten. i injured myself on the descent from Kilimanjaro and as a result, gained a shit ton of wait and lost a shit ton of my fitness. in that moment this morning, i had to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat by realizing that sixty-seven years old and coming back from an extreme injury, that my time, was not all that poor after all. i had to forgive myself, for being human.
my source material was all about forgiveness, acceptance and healing and placing my results into that framework, i can see that if i choose to use this a growth opportunity, i will get better. on the other hand, if i choose to use this as a sign that i am not good enough and just give up, i will not be able to scale any mountains this summer, or hike the high road to Machu Picchu, two activities i have the desire in which to engage.
so it is back to the training drawing board, to see what i can accomplish over the next few months. i am willing and i believe i have the ability to accomplish a whole lot more than a 10K run, i just have to set a goal and do my best to take guidance for the source available to me, just for today.
