δ facing life, without the use of drugs is not always easy. δ

recovery requires more than hard work; it requires a liberal dose of courage.
so what is my definition of courage anyways. well the dictionary and the literature of the program that has given me this new life all have excellent definitions, and for those of you who may be confused i strongly suggest that you do some research. having read all of that and having been around for more than two days in a row, i have developed my own definition of courage. for me, courage is the ability to do what i NEED to do NO MATTER how i afraid i may be. so i fit the definition as written in the literature, " a courageous addict is one who does not use, one day at a time, no matter what. "
and i am that and more. having been doing this whole recovery trip for a day or so, there have been quite a few things i have faced clean, and did not use over. good times, bad times, you know i had my share...
oops,
 wrong literature, anyhow,
i have also had the opportunity to watch others with whom i happen to share my life get through the most heinous circumstances i can imagine and come out clean. and they provide me the HOPE that even i can face similar life on life’s terms circumstances and emerge with my recovery not only intact but actually strengthened. so the my HOPE feeds my COURAGE which in turn feeds my RESOLVE to not use anything no matter what. and where will i find the strength that i will need to live that sort of life? well the answer is also in the reading today, i have access to a limitless source of strength, THE POWER THAT KEEPS ME CLEAN AND PROVIDES FOR ALL MY NEEDS. that power can and will sustain me through the tough times, by providing what ever i happen to NEED. my job is to recognize the gifts, and accept them. and for this addict recognizing and accepting are one of the two toughest jobs, but that is a topic for another day!
