through being of service early in their recovery. something just short of a miracle occurs when i begin to have a positive impact on the lives of others, through my service efforts. and this is the time when i especially feel that impact, although the evidence in the here and now is lacking. i mean really, i know that i voted to approve the first change to our basic text in twenty years, but that book has yet to be typeset and shipped out to the fellowship and as a result, the effects of that action are not visible to me yet. the rest of the decisions i will be part of formulating over the course of the next forty-eight hours are of that same nature. so in order to really respond to this reading i need to find a few immediate examples of my service to others. well i actually do not NEED to find any, i can find that sort of stuff without any problem at all. in fact i just called my newest sponsee and wished him a HAPPY 3 YEAR ANNIVERSARY -- and so it goes o\ff to the cyberworld HAPPY 3 YEARS CJ! IT REALLY IS MIRACLE ANY OF US CAN DO THIS GIG DAY AFTER DAY! and i will be calling another one here in just a few minutes, so i can be of service in his life also.
do i need to build my self-esteem through service? not anymore, but it certainly does not hurt. well i have work work and homework left to accomplish before nine, so although i would love to prattle on, i do need to attend to some tasks before going back to the process.

☯ The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao ☯

THE TAO TEH KING, OR THE TAO AND ITS CHARACTERISTICS
by Lao-Tse
Translated by James Legge

Book 2

2) Tao when nursed within one's self,
His vigour will make true;
And where the family it rules
What riches will accrue!
The neighbourhood where it prevails
In thriving will abound;
And when 'tis seen throughout the state,
Good fortune will be found.
Employ it the kingdom o'er,
And men thrive all around.
