∞ SERVICE ∞

i can be of service in all areas of my life, not just recovery?
WHOAAAA, wait a minute dude, does that mean by working, and paying my bills and being present for my family i have met my service commitment for today and that i can give up all my current and future service commitments to the fellowship that saved my life?
one might think so, judging by the scant number of members who are in service with me. the truth is that i must learn to balance all of my service commitments, both to the fellowship and in the other areas of my life. i NEED to be involved in carrying the message by being of service to my home group (which i do have), and if possible, to the others levels of the service structure. BUT, i also must make time to be of service to myself, my employer, and my family, and so the balancing act continues.
there was a time in my recovery when i through myself into service with such a zeal that i had no time for anything else. part of this behavior was repaying a debt to a fellowship that will never be totally repaid, the other part was acting-out on a specific character defect and was addressed as i journeyed through the steps. slowly i am discovering that i can balance all of my service commitments in all areas of my life and i am starting to find that i can thrive even meeting all the various commitments in my life.
