is working for me and what i see work for others and yet, there are time i want to reach out and teach something, without being asked to do so. as the days mount up, i have become much better at letting what is, be what is, especially when it comes to what i say to my peers about how i think they are working their program. there was certainly a time in my recovery journey, where i believed it should be my way or the highway, when it came to working a program of recovery and many of my peers and certainly the men who called me their sponsor, paid a heavy price. i paid the greatest price of all of them. because of my adamant and obstinate desire to express my opinions, i found i did not influence anyone nor make many friends.as i became more “present,” i learned the error of my ways and eventually came to accept that the only measure of my peer's success was IF they were staying clean and continuing to show up.
today has been one of those mornings where everything i planned on doing was changed on a whim. i have often been accused, rightfully so, of being to heavily oriented into a routine and not allowing myself to “flow” through me day. my plan which started out as i planned with getting out of bed at 5:30, quickly changed to a run outside, as i pushed trough my after meditation deep dive. after walking the dawg, i decided to obey my body and not my head or my fitness tracker and do a mixed work out 1 KM walking to to 2KM of running at a very relaxed pace and as a result, i feel great as i enjoy my cigar and prepare my AI holiday greeting for my friends and peers in recovery. the rest of my day still includes a meeting, perhaps some shopping, maybe a nap and as little screen time as i can stand. 🤪
my life is certainly becoming different these days, as i figure out how to live within my means, be okay with days that have little structure and learn to find space to be okay with who i am, even when i stumble into the less than stellar behaviors that i have come to find less than desirable and acceptable to me. r=the key here is not to work on restraining myself from behaving i those unsavory ways, but in being present with what is going on with myself so i can choose a different path, just for today.
