∞ the long and winding road ∞

or is it a steep and narrow path??
there are only a few things i know for certain this morning -- the first and most important is that i have chosen to start my day in recovery and made a decision not to use today.
after coming through the last little twist in my road of recovery relatively unscathed, it is more than evident this morning that i cannot do this recovery gig without a bit, well actually a bunch, of help from others in the program. the reading this morning reminded me of where that help comes from -- GOD. my sponsor, the program, my friends in recovery, and the literature that provides the road map are merely conduits for this help, if i choose to accept the gift being offered.
after sitting down with my sponsor last night and going through what i uncovered in my step work, i am once again beginning to appreciate how insidious my disease is and how it morphs into a quieter, more subtle version that is no less fatal than it was when i walked in here 2801 days ago. so i do understand about the metaphor in the reading this morning, my path is now set and it is up to me to face the steep grade, the twists and the turns. the best part is i do not have to do this by myself!
so onward and upward, into another day of recovery.

☯ The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao ☯

THE TAO TEH KING, OR THE TAO AND ITS CHARACTERISTICS
by Lao-Tse
Translated by James Legge

Book 2

1) All things are produced by the Tao, and nourished by its outflowing
operation. They receive their forms according to the nature of each,
and are completed according to the circumstances of their condition.
Therefore all things without exception honour the Tao, and exalt its
outflowing operation.
