🤔 to change 🤯
posted: Mon, Apr 25, 2022 06:10:41 AM

what is unacceptable in my life is something i am coming to grips with, these days. of course knowing what i have the ability to change and what i have to accept, grudgingly or not, is where the rubber hits the road, so to speak. as i embrace what my life has become and what i “get” to do, as a result of my recovery, i see that there is not a whole lot of stuff in my life that is unacceptable to me, today. in fact, that which is unacceptable, is actually someone else's stuff and i have to learn to accept the consequences of their decision-making process, even if i judge that process to be flawed. it just sucks, that i pay the price, when they choose, but it is sort of a what goes around, comes around sort of situation, as they often paid the price for my bad decision-making, when i was in active addiction.
coming to grips with my reality, means that i can cerebrate that i have decided to stay clean, yet another day. it means that i can go to work and be a productive employee, instead of sitting around and playing games on my computer all day long. it means that i can make plans to be present for my family, at my uncles's celebration of life, instead of pretending that the miles between us, makes it impossible for me to be there. most of all, i can accept that if i am not pleased with some aspect of my life, i can run it through the filter of the serenity prayer and seek the wisdom to see if i can change it, or i have to accept it, and live with the results. even if i am totally okay with the original answer, it does not mean that i cannot look at it again tomorrow. sometimes what i have to accept today, is something i can change tomorrow, and vice versa. time to get up and head on down to the office. it is a good day to live in the real world and embrace my reality.
