๐ŸŒ… i aspire to ๐ŸŒ„

love unconditionally and, even when i fall short, the practice does me good. before i go down a rabbit hole, i need to wish all who are celebrating today, a Happy Easter. i may not be of the faith that recognizes this day, but that does not mean those who do, deserve anything less than my respect and goodwill. once upon a time, this was a day of great excitement and pageantry for me, as i grew into my own mind, i began to see it in a different light, and one that is not all that flattering. it took me some time to get over my resentment for what i once held to be true and find it in my heart to allow others the freedom to pursue whatever spiritual path they chose, without throwing all kinds of shade and judgements. part of coming to a place of unconditional love, is to let go of my need to tell others that what they believe may be preventing them form seeing their own higher selves.
it is that higher self, that i aspire to, through the application of unconditional love for those in my life, for the world around me and most importantly, for myself. as my source material suggested, i did not walk into the rooms full of any sort of love, so my journey to becoming more than that man, has been a long and quite twisty one. one thing more than anything else, blocked this process for so long and that was my need to conform to what i thought were the expectations of my peers and have at a titular Christian Higher power. my fear of stepping out from what i knew would never work for me again, kept me in the dark for far longer that i needed to be. what might have taken only a handful of years ended-up taking fifteen and most of that time i nursing a resentment against all those who practiced a monotheistic religions. i saw them as evil incarnate and yet i could not break free to walk the path i have been on since that fateful change in my perception.
this morning, as i prepare to get out and put some miles under my sneakers, i am grateful for what i was given by those of FAITH: a moral compass, a practical guide for living and a way of seeing the world through the eyes of others. it is here, where i might decide to add a critique of what i see as a major failing of that FAITH in the United States today. instead, i will wish them well, hope they too, can aspire to love everyone without conditions and move on with my day. i do not need to pollute my spirit today, with a bit of self-righteous poison, i can and will be better than that, just for today.

Tao Te Ching

☯ The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao ☯

The Tao Teh King, or The Tao and Its Characteristics
by Lao-Tse
Translated by James Legge

Book 2

1) Who thinks his great achievements poor
Shall find his vigour long endure.
Of greatest fulness, deemed a void,
Exhaustion ne'er shall stem the tide.
Do thou what's straight still crooked deem;
Thy greatest art still stupid seem,
And eloquence a stammering scream.
