when i was not running and ruminating on almost nothing, i did see a place in my life where the very principles that are my recovery foundation, are more than values or morals, in an abstract manner. for me, they have become a literal way of life. i understand and accept that i am powerless over addiction. note to all: i said addiction as i never have suffered from addictions. addiction took me many places that were less than savory. in active addiction there was s et of behaviors that scratched that itch. there were certainly a set of substances i call my “holy trinity” that i was always using to achieve that perfect balance of being way high and being in control. nevertheless, i was not addicted to this substance, that behavior or that person, but all of them fed my addiction. i make that clear now, because it seems that the newest of the new, come into the rooms thinking they have multiple problems, i have been there and done that, instead of just one big one: ADDICTION. life inn recovery became a whole lot easier for me, once i took out all the bits and pieces of what i may be “addicted to,” and gathered them under a singular tent called addiction. once it was not all about what and how much i used, recovery became a bit easier.
anyhow, it is a good day to be clean and ascribe to the spiritual principles that guide my life. sometimes when i consider STEP TWO, i think that maybe the sanity i can be restored to, is the becoming of the person i never saw in myself. certainly an interesting manner in which to wrap this up. it is, after all, a great day to be clean. gratitude is one those principles i am learning to live by, just for today.
