∞ confining my prayers to requests for knowledge of the will of my HIGHER POWER …

...the power to carry it out, and the ability to live with the consequences will ensure that i get no more than i can handle. so thinking about what i have been praying for lately is always a great task for me to do. although, i think i am praying only for the knowledge, and in my formal prayer sessions, that is true, but looking over the **foxhole** prayers across the course of my day, i do find that i stray from that ideal. i still get mixed up about what i want and what i need, and as a result, i find that the tone of my prayers take on my current set of desires, whether i need them or not.
so i am just swamped today, as the latest of this particular entry may indicate, had to deal with a relative of a sponsee, who once again has relapsed and now has the possibility of a major consequence in his life. i would like to pray for him to come out of this on his feet and getting mercy, but i know to do so, would be putting too much attachment on an outcome, that i am unable to control, much less influence. so what is this addict to do? get back to work, see what i can get accomplished today and let go of the results of my plans as well as the plans of others. i know that is part of the will of my HIGHER POWER today, and i will transform that nugget of information into the power that is inherent in that knowledge.

☯ The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao ☯

THE TAO TEH KING, OR THE TAO AND ITS CHARACTERISTICS
by Lao-Tse
Translated by James Legge

Book 1

1) The skilful traveller leaves no traces of his wheels or footsteps;
the skilful speaker says nothing that can be found fault with or blamed;
the skilful reckoner uses no tallies; the skilful closer needs no
bolts or bars, while to open what he has shut will be impossible;
the skilful binder uses no strings or knots, while to unloose what
he has bound will be impossible. In the same way the sage is always
skilful at saving men, and so he does not cast away any man; he is
always skilful at saving things, and so he does not cast away anything.
This is called 'Hiding the light of his procedure.'
