of daily and active recovery helps me to create a bit of order from the chaos of living in this post-modern world. this morning, just had to step out of the box and find some rando topic to write about. it was not as if i disagreed with what my daily seeds were presenting as ideas, it just seemed that i was rehashing the same stuff i have been writing about recently and it seemed a bit boring and redundant to me. i needed to inject a bit of chaos into the order of my life, ironic ain't it? 😏
it should come to no surprise to anyone that i have very strong opinions on what is happening in the world and the general sheepification of my fellows travelers. i was taught to consider things in a critical manner, propose theories, run experiments to test them and alter my theories when the results do not support them. i was taught to think for myself and recognize the difference between propaganda, advertising, opinions and cold hard facts. i do not do predigested news and do not need to be hand fed the pablum that passes for modern media, that i see all around me. i am grateful that the tribe i found, does not require me to stop thinking or critically examining the concepts and suggestions it offers to me, as i implement this manner of living.
yes, i took a circuitous route to get here and i have to admit, chaos seemed to be my middle name when i was running and gunning. i thrived in chaotic situations and yet control and the ability to bend events to my desired outcomes, was what i was all about. when i got clean, the outcome i desired was to stay out of prison and free myself from the clutches of the justice system. not noble and very self-serving. what i got instead was a blueprint for living the sort of life i never imagined i wanted. as i stuck around and began to feel the need to change, i saw that the only real lasting effect i could have on the world, had to start with my heart and my spiritual path. finding my way through the wilderness of denial, justification and rationalization was not an easy task, BUT i had the help of my peers and the concrete wisdom of the fellowship that has become my home, to lead me out.
today, i am far from pleased with the state of current events and the way it seems most people walk through life believing they are owed something, just because they are. i have been there, so i get it, but that does not mean i have to like it. for me, life is more than getting what is mine. my goal today and every day, is to live clean, leave as little of wake of destruction in my path as possible and if i can, brighten my little corner of the world just a little bit. i may not be able to impose order on the chaos of living, but my program allows me to contain the chaos within me and live in a manner that i can be proud of, just for today.
