and enduring connections with other members, takes time and effort it is much more than acknowledging that similarities outweigh differences. as i sit here this morning, having the desire to whine about the effects of over-training on my sixty-nine year old body, i have to pause for just a second and consider exactly what it is that i truly want to whine about. yes, it sucks that i cannot not even walk fast up and down steps right now. yes it sucks that i am limited to the distance i can walk in any one stretch. and yes i am unable to run pain free. i have to take some responsibility for that, it was not as if my leg did not warn me to slow down and to back off. i chose, yes i chose consciously, to keep moving forward with my training schedule, despite the warnings. when i backed off, however, i still did not totally back off, as i walked faster and further than i should have, until the pain was too great. yes pain was my guideline to cut back, even though the pain that was the warning was hardly enough for me to say: hey wait a minute, WTF am i doing.
it sucks that i use pain as motivation in my spiritual fitness as well as my physical fitness. the nice part of this, is i have written my resentment list before i started to feel the pain and am ready to share them, in all their glory with my sponse tomorrow. the is the first time with my newish sponsor that i am going to start building the connection that existed with my previous sponsor. i have done step work with him, but the FOURTH and FIFTH Steps are something more. i am certain that i will survive the telling and perhaps learn a thing or two about myself in that process. life on this side of the grass is better today, because i have found the connections that were always missing in my life. drugs, work and even family ties did not make me feel connected, but recovery has shown me a way beyond my isolation, just for today.
